Ok so last night I tried to play overwatch but was experience rubber banding lag. It had never happened before. I wanted to rule out my router (linksys ea3500) first, so I immediately pinged 192.168.1.1 -t and watched it for a few mins. Every 15 secs or so, I would get a spike (http://imgur.com/a/u7mRa)

I reset modem, router and computer and checked it again. It was no longer happening. I then started up overwatch (also tried wow) and the spikes started again.

Here is the weird part. When I start my computer, and not open anything, it pings fine. Its only after overwatch or wow is running does it start. And then it continues even after I close the game.

I have tried replicating what is happening on my laptop but it does not happen. Which makes me think my wireless card on my desktop is going bad, but if it only happens after connecting to overwatch, can this be the case?

I have not tried forwarding the ports to the games. And will try that when I get home. But the game has never done this before so I am not sure what the issue is.

If it was Overwatch or WoW causing it, it would be happening on every device you have (desktop & laptop alike). Assuming you have all patches loaded, then if the laptop isn't experiencing the problem, it's not a problem with the games...although it could still be a software vs. a hardware issue.

If you've installed any Windows updates or driver updates recently, try rolling them back (whichever one was most recent should be first), & recheck after each rollback. If the problem disappears, you've identified it as a software issue.

If that doesn't fix it, I see you mentioned a Wi-Fi card on your desktop. Have you tried plugging into the router directly with an Ethernet cable? If you can, & the problem disappears, then the...

If you can, & the problem disappears, then the issue is with the Wi-Fi adapter. If you updated the drivers recently, try rolling them back. If you didn't update the drivers recently, check for updated versions. If there aren't any, try reinstalling the adapter.

I miss spoke before. The wifi adapter is built into the mobo (asus z87-pro) I have tried reinstalling the drivers . I will try to do a system restore and see if that fixes it. Will report back.
