I currently have a dual booting machine-- Hackintosh macOS Sierra/Windows 10
The specs are:
-Asrock z77 extreme 4
-core i7 2600k 3.4 (I usually OC to 4.4) ~100W
-16 GB 1600mhz ram DD3
-MSI GTX 970
-Corsair H55 waiter cooler
-EVGA 850W power Supply
I use this rig for gaming and I use to use mac a lot, but I have started using my MacBook and my other Hackintosh laptop more for that. However, it is still nice to be able to boot macOS occasionally, but not necessary.
I recently bought a PC from a pawn shop at a screaming deal!
I only need one desktop though.
The new one's specs are:
-Asus M5A99FX Pro 2.0
-AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-core 4.7 ~220W
-32GB 1600mhz ram DDR3 (EDIT: 1866mhz)
-2X Asus Rog GTX 980 Matrix 4GB -- in SLI
-Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate (CL-W007-PL12BL-A)
-XFX 1000W power supply
My questions are...
Should I switch to the entire system or keep my MB and CPU?
If I do keep my CPU is there a way to use that awesome Water cooler with my CPU?
Which CPU is better? I always lean towards intel, but I could just be prejudice. I know the 8 core is good at multitasking and according to benchmarks the 2600 and the 9590 are very comparable. I don't care about wattage.
I know that the intel has HD 4000.
One plus I see to keeping my intel MB is that I can someday upgrade to an ivy bridge, but it isn't much of an upgrade. Will the newer AMD CPUs have the same socket?
Is there any benefit in SLI in having more cores?
Am I asking these questions on the Wrong website?
Remember... I would like to install macOS but I do not have to.
I am going to sell which ever setup I do not chose to keep on Ebay, so do not just tell me to keep both.
note: Which ever setup I will keep the 32Gb ram and the 980s
