Hi, I am running an old NVIDIA 9800 GTX and really need to upgrade. From my research it looks as if I can upgrade to the new Nvidia 10 (i want the GeForce GTX 1060) series but I wanted to make certain before pulling the trigger on a $350 graphic card. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

My motherboard is an MSI X79A-GD45 (MS-7735)
• Military Class III: Top Quality & Stability
• PCI Express Gen 3: World’s 1st PCI Express Gen 3 Motherboard Brand
• Click BIOS II: World’s 1st Unified UEFI & Software Graphical Interface
• OC Genie II: Overclock in 1 Second
• Supports USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s

Solution
It will work. However, why are you spending $350 on a 1060? If you are paying more than $275, then something is wrong, and you are just paying for extra stuff and the brand. If you can afford that, upgrade to eh GTX 1070 which the cheapest is $379. What CPU do you have?

Sorry that is Canadian dollars. Our dollar is low now bcz of low oil prices. 1070 is a lot more on Newegg $499 CND.

My CPU is Intel Core i7 3820 Overclocked to 4.3ghz
RAM = 16.0GB DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)

You should be good. That i7 plenty of good to run the 1060. Sorry about that, I didn't know about the currency. GTX 1060 6GB should be good for you. Here is one for $341...hopefully not too much out of your budget: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/7RKhP6/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-windforce-oc-6g-video-card-gv-n1060wf2oc-6gd

Thanks a lot for answering my question, much appreciated. You got me thinking 1070 now. I looked up the performance difference and I actually think the 1070 is worth shelling out the extra coinage. :)))
