I just built a new pc and I want windows 7 on it. I was looking at "Kinguin" however it seems a bit risky. Any other offers more legit?

would have thought asking your college would be the way to go

should also get office free if your college qualifies

your college has to give you the information you need to get them free far as i know

From what I understand (from here on Toms), kinguin is not legit. Windows may work for a while, but if Microsoft discovers the product key has been used before (for example when it does an update), it could de-activate Windows. Whether this will happen in one week, one month, or longer can't be determined. Maybe Microsoft isn't interested in de-activating products it no longer sells, like Windows 7, but there is always a risk. If you really need Windows 7, your best bet is to buy a boxed copy from a retailer, if they still have any in stock. (Best Buy, Fryes, MicroCenter, etc.)

I hear many instances of kinguin being trustworthy AND untrustworthy, so I am unsure

only students or employees can get a discount, everyone else is full price. Things like Kinguin are reselling "grey" keys which are frankly stolen through one means or another. Microsoft can deactivate any of those keys at any time if/when they feel like. They are not legitimate purchases.
