Are Nvidia drivers the same for 9 and 10 series?

I'm about to install an Nvidia 10 series card. Do I need to download the 10 series specific driver? From what I can tell the file is the same...

it is just a log from their website to see which drivers people aim for. the downloaded driver includes all the drivers for a whole range of cards but only installs the ones for the card it detects.

you still need to flush your current drivers and reinstall from the driver package since the drivers currently installed are for your 970 and wont work with the 10 series. use ddu to uninstall the 970 drivers. this will avoid driver conflict.
