I have the ASUS P8Z68-VLE motherboard, and am using this RAM
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00569K7LM/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

And I was going to buy two more sticks, and noticed a review where someone said his showed as 1333MHZ in BIOS, but a quick change fixed that, and he manually changed the timing. Here's how mine shows

What benefit is there to changing my settings, and are there any disadvantages?

I also read, and correct me if I'm wrong....that instead of manually changing the timing, if I do change the frequency, is to set the Ai Overclock Tuner to X.M.P. and change the Memory frequency to 1600MHZ, and it will change everything automatically??
And technically....this isn't overclocking, correct? I'm not a gamer, I might add. So, maybe I won't see the benefit of doing this?? I'm assuming I'm not getting the full extent of what my RAM is designed to be doing?

Thanks, in advance!

turning on xmp is not overclocking. the xmp is just a profile of cas specs and settings that the memory is preloaded with and the recommended ideal settings. there really isn't any reason not to enable the xmp setting. you would only notice a small performance difference in memory intensive programs like photoshop or adobe premiere or blender.

If you click on the Tech Specs Tab, you will see:
SPD Latency 9-9-9-24
SPD Speed 1333MHz
SPD Voltage 1.5V

SPD (Serial Presence Detect) is the settings the memory runs at if left on [Auto].

XMP (eXtreme Memory Profiles) can be [Enabled] to run modules at rated speeds. Manual settings can also be used.

Memory FAQs:
#6) Here Corsair explains that adding two more sticks is not guaranteed and be aware that when using two kits of memory together, you may need to reduce the speed of the memory to get it to work.

So, if I enable the xmp setting, would the memory automatically run at the 1600mhz, or would I have to still change it manually, as well as the timing? My understanding is that if I enable xmp, and adjust the frequency, the timing will be automatically adjusted. Maybe I'm wrong though. :)

Same question......if I enable xmp, will it automatically adjust the frequency and timing?

So I can simply enable xmp, adjust the frequency, and everything else will be automatic? Just making sure.

And thank you.
