Should I upgrade my router for better gaming?

I have a tp-link router at the moment. Very basic inexpensive product. I have a 2mbps connection and will shift to 10mbps in a couple of days. So wondering how the upgraded bandwidth will cope with the router and vice versa. Should I go for a budget ASUS router? I think it is called the atc-1900p or something. How would that be?

What exact model of tp-link router do you have?

Are you talking about asus ac1900 (model number being RT-AC68P), if so I have that router and it is a really good router, but for gaming at 10mbps it is massive overkill.

As dangus said, hardwired ethernet connection will always be significantly better then wifi.
