Brand new killer network adapter e2400 does not work, what's up with this?

I just got a brand new custom built computer with a gigabyte mother board not sure if that's relevant and windows 7.
When I hook up this adapter that came in the box,( it was brand new unopened) it was the gigabyte adapter killer e2400. So after pluging it in it still does not show as being connected when I troubleshoot the network it says it might be broken or not plugged in even though I screwed it into the motherboard. I turn on my Bluetooth phone hotspot iPhone and it does not detect the hotspot.

Any ideas on what I could do or what may be wrong?

I bought an asrock fatal1ty z170 k4 that has Killer™ E2400 lan and drivers were not working even when installed by CD (actually i couldn't use the CD because the USB dvd reader needed driver too...). Solution was downloading from asrock website, writing on a CD and plugging temproanely a SATA DVD reader and then it worked.

Golden tip: be sure you removed all previous mobo drivers etc. , formatting is the best way.
