I think it's my CPU heat sink.

My computer powers off after loading any game and sometime even windows. I did have a problem with the heat sink before and took it to a shop and they only re-applied thermal paste but it's done no good.

SET UP:
Windows 10 64 bit
Strix GeForce Gtx 960 2gb
Amd 8320 (8 core 3.5ghz)
8gb ram
Cx600 psu

I'm tempted to just replace the heat sink or is it too late??

Solution
That is probably your answer. If your CPU cooler is broken just get a new cooler.

It is probably not making complete contact with your CPU.

Getting an aftermarket heat sink isn't a big deal and isn't expensive.

The 8320 actually runs cooler than an 8350. So for it to have heat issues at stock clocks is definitely out of the ordinary.

Does the heat sinc get hot or the cpu cores themself?
