Hi there,

Computer Specs;
FX 8320
M5A97 R2.0
GTX 960/ r7 250
RIPJAWS 8g ram
500w psu
Side Note: I have my FX 8320 OC'd to 4.3 GHz, but that is NOT the issue. It is perfectly stable.

I updated my bios and clicked restart when prompted. Upon reboot I had a single beep, repeating every 8 seconds or so. My monitor cannot detect a video signal; also my keyboard and mouse have no connection. I tried both my GTX 960 and R7 250 to make sure my GPU wasn't the issue and it has the same issue. I tried my second PCI slot and same issue. I tried removing my RAM, when I did I was given the beeping for missing RAM. I tried removing my CMOS battery (currently trying that again). Also I tried switching the configuration jumpers, when I change it from slot 1-2 to 2-3, it boots without the beeping, no video signal.

Thanks everyone!

Download the BIOS update. Unzip it. Read]http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A97_R2.0/E7438_M5A97_R20_Manual_web_hi-res.pdf?_ga=1.66440999.80430216.1481928582]Read the manual.

You may have to rename the file. Then follow what the manual says. The manual says

rename the file as M5A97R20.CAP and save it to a USB portable device’s root directory

2. Insert the USB storage device to the USB Flashback port.

3.Launch the USB BIOS Flashback Wizard to automatically download the latest BIOS
version. (you cant do this, you cant get into windows). So whether 4 works not not, I dont know

4. Press the BIOS Flashback button for three seconds until a flashing light appears, which
indicates that the BIOS Flashback function is enabled.

5. Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed

So extract the file put it on...

It sounds like you have a corrupt BIOS, as the flashing did not complete correctly. So, you forgot to mention the most important thing, the type of your motherboard, because the recovery process mainly depends on that.

I was downloading the most recent Windows 10 Bios so I could update. Currently on Windows 8.1, my update always bricks and reverts me back, so I read that I need to update my bios first.

Use BIOS flashback and flash the previous BIOS 2601. It does sound like a corrupt BIOS or a buggy BIOS

I had a similar prob with the other PC here. It kept looping on the last BIOS (on the post screen). When I turned it on it beeped then restarted / beeped again, and this was continuous

I had to flash the previous BIOS to fix it

If you update the BIOS do it in the BIOS NOT in Windows

If you did update the BIOS in Windows get the latest BIOS then update it in the BIOS. It'll probably work

This:

The most recent Windows 10 Bios so I could update. Currently on Windows 8.1, my update always bricks and reverts me back

Has nothing to do with the BIOS. Thats a Windows prob. The Windows 10 updates are not a BIOS update.

They're different things

Hi Paul, I'm just curious what I download on-to my flash drive USB for the BIOS flashback

Download the BIOS update. Unzip it. Read]http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A97_R2.0/E7438_M5A97_R20_Manual_web_hi-res.pdf?_ga=1.66440999.80430216.1481928582]Read the manual.

5. Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed

So extract the file put it on a flash drive (not in a folder). It wont read the BIOS
