I bought an msi b85 g43, an intel core i7 4790, and 8 gigs of hyperx ddr3 ram. I also have a gtx 760 (asus directcu II) and a corsair tx 650. I'm running windows 7
Everything worked fine with the previous build, but when I replaced the motherboard, graphics and RAM the pc wont start at all. I am pretty sure I have all power cords connected, and the gtx 760 has a green led, so the motherboard is probably not faulty. How do I solve this?

Oh, I have to reinstall? That probably explains it. How do I go about doing that when nothing happens if I try and turn it on. I did get the 8pin near the cpu as marked in the motherboard, and Ive the PSU switch. Ive also checked the power button cable, and tried to use a screwdriver

Here's what's happening...

Your old HD / SSD has Windows drivers for all your old hardware.... when booted, it says "what the H-E double sticks is going on here ... I can't find any of this stuff ... at the same time it sees your new hardware and says ... what is this excrement ? ... I don't have any drivers installed for this crap"

However, if your not posting and getting to BIOS, then all that is irrelevant. You have some LEDs no doubt on MoBos ... that's one of the reasons I hate not having the 2 digit LCD that comes on most Z170 boards... the 2 digit code tells you exactly what is wrong .. and you don't need R2D2 nearby to interpret the beeps ..... not that I have seen a MoBo / Case w/ a speaker in this millenium.

CPU fan plugged in ?

Alright, I get it to boot and then I get a blue screen error before it rapidly restarts, somethign with check your pc for viruses, and hard drive. So I guess Im going to have to do the hard drive thingy you talked about. How would I proceed?
I'm currently in the BIOS, unsure of what to do

Stick the Windows DvD in the Optical drive and let it do it's thing ... tell it to format the SSD or HD and install Windoze.

However, was your Windows pre-installed or did you buy it as an individual purchase ?

Retail versions can be moved to new equipment
OEM versions (Win 7, 8, 10) can be moved to different equipment if the Windows OS appears as an individual purchase on your receipt * ... best if ya don't change too much
OEM versions as in a pre-installed Dell can not be moved to new equipment.

* If your purchase receipt reads:

SuperPCs WhoopDeDoo 3000 w/ Model this that and the other things, some other good stuff and Windows = $1199.99, you can't reinstall on new hardware

If it reads:

MoBo =
CPU =
HD =
GFX Card =
Windows =

Then you ok to move tho to get it done, you don't wanna be switching from Intel to AMD CPUs or Gigabyte MoBo to MSI and stuff ...

SuperPCs WhoopDeDoo 3000 w/ Model this that and the other things, some other good stuff = $1139.99
Windows 10 = $60
Total $1,199.99

Then you should be OK.
