PC resets when R9 390 is stressed

This just started happening today. Whenever the GPU is stressed in such a way that the core is stressed, the PC resets. I have run a GPU memory burner which was drawing 450w from the wall and the computer didn't crash, but the second I run the core burner (or any game) the computer shuts off.

Because there is no visual artifacts or driver crashes this makes me think it is a power supply issue. I have reinstalled drivers and checked for viruses, but the issue is still there. Also reset all system overclocks.

System Specs:
- CPU: i7 4790k
- GPU: Strix R9 390
- PSU: Thermaltake Smart 750w
- RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws
- Motherboard: Gigabyte UD5H z97

It's not necessarily the total power draw but how your PSU reacts to extreme changing power loads caused by your GPU. Your PSU may have some room left but it may not be able to handle the sudden power draw that your GPU needs and a PSU protection mechanism kicks in restarting your system. You should also know that your current PSU isn't considered to be a very good unit but the EVGA is a great one. Good luck.
The most likely suspect is the PSU. How old is it? It could also be the motherboard or the GPU. The only way to be certain is to test your system with another PSU that is capable to support the power monster you have for GPU ;). Generally speaking though an unexpected system restart under heavy system/power load is almost always caused by a faulty or dying PSU.

I have had the PSU since my first build in 2013. All the components in my computer right now are basically new except for the PSU, so I am thinking the same thing. The other week I was stability testing my rig (Prime 95 + Valley) to make sure it is stable at full load, it was drawing 740w at the wall. I didn't think this was a major issue due to the fact that the PSU is rated at 750w (although I know this isn't ideal). I think I will order a EVGA 850w G2 and see if the problem persists.
