Laptop Fans Running Loud For No Reason

On my Lenovo Y40 laptop(which is running Windows 10 64 bit), my fans will run at at full speed or close to full speed all of the time. Only rarely will they run at a reasonable volume, and 9/10 times they are at running at full speed, I'm not doing anything remotely demanding on my laptop. I have tried using several temperature-managing programs, such as speedfan. They all show that my computer is running at low temperatures, but aren't able to control my fan speed. I have updated all of my drivers to the newest/best ones possible, but Lenovo's selection of drivers for my model of laptop is very limited, and because of that, I am running a BIOS meant for windows 7 through 8.1. I have looked at countless other forums, but have yet to find a solution that works. The fans are obnoxiously loud, and this makes them very distracting and I don't want to use my laptop in public because of how loud they are. I also want to say that I don't think it is a problem with the fans themselves, just the software controlling them.

Try the repair install and see if any changes take place, it seems like you're experiencing memory leak if installer worker is hogging so much resources.

I came across a Lenovo Y40-80 laptop support page off which it had support for Windows 10. The SKU I've been asking for would be a model number separated by a hyphen/dash i.e Lenovo Y40 - XX and that will land you to a support page of it's own. If the device was intended to run off Windows 8 I'd suggest going to 8.1 at max but unless you have full BIOS and driver support for your device to run under Windows 10, I'd advise to stay clear and save yourself some trouble. At least that's my 2 cents.

1| Can you please pass on the SKU for your laptop?

2| Mentioning that the BIOS you're on was meant for Windows 7/8/8.1 is a clear indication that it's to do with your BIOS perhaps that it's not meant to support a migration to Windows 10.

3| Regardless of the BIOS, have you pulled up taskmanager and paid attention to the task running in the background as well as the CPU and memory usage(as well as your HDD usage) of your OS? If they are always running above 60% all the time then this may indicate a memory leak(corruption in your OS). The solution to this is either a repair install or a reinstallation of the OS.

In regards to your first question, I could not locate the SKU, or at least anything labled "SKU", but there are several other numbers on my laptop labeled "MO" and "Factory ID", and I'm not sure if either of those are the same thing as the SKU, just under a different name.

For the second question, I frequently have task manager open, monitoring my cpu usage in correlation to my fan speed. I sometimes find it in a normal usage percentage(less than or around 15%), and commonly around 30% up to 80%, and rarely at or around 100%. The culprits I have found for the usage being so high are typically Windows processes, such as ones for Windows updates or Windows defender. I am currently looking into a process called "Windows modules installer worker". That particular program drove my cpu usage up to 100%, and it seems to have caused trouble to other users as well.

On the topic of my OS, the hybrid drive that was shipped with my computer failed after my warranty had expired, and I replaced it with an SSD and installed Windows 10. The laptop was shipped running Windows 8, and I believe that going back to that could solve the problems, but I cannot do that because it was never installed on my current hard drive.

For all people tried all the solutions, change the BIOS, reset the computer, change from windows 8.1 to windows 7, I and my technician open the computer and reset on the motherboard where it is installed from the BIOS, and you must install one with The one that came to the beginning, NOT the most recent one according to your laptop. Since that alone works.
The new BIOS updated by windows makes the fan sound so noisy and intermittent, so it needs to be recieved on the same motherboard.
I hope it helps my cost me a bundle to get to the solution, couple that do not spend there has the solution.
