Before reading this the solution was that I had accidently bought 2 x 4GB sticks (the description said 8GB so assumed they were 8GB each)

Hi all,
I had built a new PC almost a year ago, and have tried solving this problem before however with no luck.
Here is my motherboard:
Asus Z97-PRO GAMER Socket 1150 VGA DVI HDMI 8-Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard
Ram:
2 x HyperX Fury 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Memory
So I have gone into the bios and found that it said 2 x 8GB sticks were installed, however with windows 8 It only reads 8GB in total. I am not an expert with BIOS settings so I am not sure whether I need to do something there, or if it's a Microsoft problem.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, I will try and upload images of the BIOS to help with the problem.
