I have been reading a lot on putting all the main components of an Alienware x51 into a new case and I have found some PSU's and cases which seem very good, however I cannot find a mother board as I have no clue what i am looking for.

my X51 specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

I know i need to change the PSU and the case but I'm not sure about the motherboard as I would like to be able to add to it later on. If you could help me find one and or tell me what I should be looking for then it would be greatly appreciated

Not sure if you are aware that it is CPU socket dependent. I notice you have already picked a CPU.
1. Look for mobo's with the same socket type. (I prefer to decide which socket to go with, then decide on mobo, CPU)
2. Are you going to add a graphics card? Based on that decide on #3.
3. Decide which form factor you like to go with, you get different sized motherboards. By now your available choices is much smaller.
4. Are going to overclock or not? If not, save some cash by buying CPU/Mobo that does not support it.
5. Finally decide on PSU, based on what power + headroom is needed.

i don't want to overclock. i would like to get a new graphics card but i don't know if I could have two graphics cards from two different series', say i keep the one i have now which is Nvidia 745 something and get a 1080, will i be able to have both on the same mobo?
also can you expand on CPU socket dependent and form factor.
thank you for the help this is greatly appreciated.
