Hi, I am changing my current amd motherboard to a msi z97 gaming 5 with the i7 4790k and was wondering if i need to clean my harddrive or format it before swapping. Can i just change the cpu and motherboard and plug the same harddrive in or will something go wrong?

Still, I would back up everything you want to save and prepare for a reinstallation of Windows if you need to.

I personally would just reinstall Windows so I could start fresh.
