Hi everyone! So I've just recently heard that All i5's gen 5 onwards are now quad-core and gen 4 below are dual-cores except that one version. Is this true? Thanks! I'm not much into intel these past few years so I just wanna know.

Solution

The newer i5-6200U is faster than some older Intel and AMD quad-cores. According to Game-Debate, their adjusted CPU requirement is an i3-2100, which is a dual-core with hyper-threading. The game should run okay.

Hi! Thanks for your reply, really is helpful but why is it that all articles that I've looked at states that i5's are dual core with only hyperthreading on it?

I think maybe what you've been reading is that, for what I believe is the first time, Intel introduced an i5 quad core non-hyperthreaded mobile CPU with Skylake. In the past mobile i5s were all dual core with HT.

Thanks for your answer, but If i had a 6200u, would that be enough to run games such as Dragon Age Inquisition? The game requires my cpu to be quad-core and would an injector (for the game) help?

I've been looking for a couple of days now. Maybe you are right, silly me. But I just wanna get a laptop, and been asking around if it'll be good enough to run a game I want. (Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-53V1, game is Dragon Age Inquisition)
