Hello everyone, Im a first timer here as well as a first time pc builder. As you can tell by the title of the thread im having some issues with my pc. I built my pc about a week ago and yes im positive i did everything correclty as i took my time and was extremely careful. I installed the os and drivers and all was good till i started to use the pc and it started i came across an issue....it kept restarting. Whether i was gaming, surfing the web, or just idle. It would randomly restart. Usually screen will freeze for a slight moment, fans will speed up suddenly, then the pc will reboot (as if you hit the reset switch). So heres what i have done so far to try and figure out the issue:
-took mobo out of the case to make sure there were no shorts
-replaced the psu
-replaced the ram
-wiped everything off my ssd and reinstalled a fresh copy of windows 10
-replaced the gpu
-updated all drivers
-monitored temps to make sure it wasnt due to overheating
-ran a few stress tests to see if the pc would restart under heavy load (it didnt while i tested it)
-also purchased a mobo speaker to see if i got a strsnge beeo code but everything is normal. 1 short beep at boot up

After doing all of the mentioned things i started to suspect software was the issue and i did various things on windows 10 to prevent these restarts but nothing helped.

Regardless im really disappointed with all this as i was expecting to switch to pc gaming from console but so far i am really regretting wasting the money. Despite the fact thst it was a budget build

Pc specs:
Amd fx6300
Gigabyte ga970ds3p mobo
Gigabyte gtx1050 2gb
2x4gb kit pny ram

Thank you for any help or suggestions you can offer. Appreciate it :)

Sure i could do thst but either way my cpu isnt overheating unless those other programs are like 30-40 degrees off. In the bios my cpu is in the 30s so i reslly dont think heat is the issue

i have seen some readings that are way off with other programs. the idea is to use the best tool for the job and in doing so ruling out one thing after another. 20 years of experience and i still don't know everything. if you ask for advice/help try to take it. i'm not saying you are wrong and i am right. just offering you information and advice.

How`s the power supply fitted to the system in relation to the peak amount of watts it can provide, and also what the amp rating is for the 12v power rail section of the Psu you have fitted ?

Open up the side of the case read the information off it, and post the brand of the power supply, its peak quoted wattage output and how many amps it states it can provide on the 12v power rails for the PSU Dieforitt.

Also post a note on what conditions it tends to randomly restart at.

For example when you launch a game and start to play it.
Or if it still happens when at idle in windows or doing basic things such as web browsing.

Were looking for a common factor here on when it mostly resets the whole system with user activity to relate to if it`s a power problem.

My psu is a sentey 725w for the 12v powerail it states 48 amps (i switched the psu out for a 600w evga psu but it didnt help) As for its tendency to restart i think its just random. Most of the time it happens its while im gaming but thats because most of the time when i use the pc im playing games. But it has happened during idle and while im just surfing thr web. It actually restarted earlier this morning when i eas checking my emails. I also tried the amd overdrive program and it gave me about the same temp readings as the other programs.

so i have been doing some testing and came across something interesting. i tried running prime95 and out of my 3 attempts of running the program, my pc didnt last more than 90 seconds. It would restart. i thought maybe it really is my psu but my voltage readings are good when i look at the bios, also the temps were fine during prime95(not that the tests lasted long anyways). could this be a bad mobo? or is my psu actually somehow faulty despite the good readings.

I've had exactly the same random restart issue on a brand new PC with Windows 10.....only 11 weeks old and it has randomly restarted a dozen times in those 11 weeks. And there is absolutely nothing in the log file to give any clue as to what the cause is.

On searching the web...there are posts in numerous forums mentioning random restart issues with Windows 10....going back as far as 2015. Some seem to think they 'solved' the issue, but clearly the issue still exists.

I actually resolved my issue myself since i wasnt getting anywhere here in the forums. Im a new time builder as i mentioned but thanks to all the issues i had and the troubleshooting i had to do i brcame quite familiar with everything. If you would like i could walk you through what i did and maybe it could help you out.

Alright so basically in my case i had two issues and thats why it was so confusing to get the pc up and going. I had a faulty ram stick AND my psu was bad. I'll try to make a checklist of what i would suggest doing:
-make sure your cpu or gpu isnt overheating under load.
-download prime95 and run the cpu heavy test for at least 15 minutes (if your pc shuts off this could be a faulty cpu since you already checked for heat issues).
-using prime95, run the more RAM heavy test. If your pc restarts like mine did then you definitely have a faulty ram stick. My pc would restart in about 2 minutes after running the test.
-make sure your psu voltages are alright. Check the ones in your bios as a starting point but if you get your hands on another psu just to test it out then thats a good idea as well.
-if nothing has worked up until this point then you might just have to start replacing parts

I wont necessarily go into what parts you should begin to replace because after all the troubleshooting you will end up doing, you may have your own suspects. Another useful gadget i purchesed was the little motherboard speaker which gives you beep codes for certain issues IF AND ONLY IF it can detect them. It didn't help me personally but perhaps it would best to get one before starting to replace and return various parts as it could detect an issue and save you some time. also make sure obvious things like plugging everything in properly or having a dust free case are in check.

I used speccy and speedfan to monitor my temps. Furmark for my gpu testing, and prime95 to stress test my cpu and ram.

Keep in mind if running windows 10 a lot of people have issues with the os causing random restarts. I have no idea how to fix or confirm this but if you have done everything in your power to try and repair the issue then the os itself could be the cause of your problems. i suppose easiest way would be to just wipe your os and reformat.

Please let me know if this helps any of you out and good luck :)
