Hi guys,

I've joined the community in hopes that you might be of help with a problem that I am encountering on a newly bought laptop.

I've formatted it and installed Windows 10 as this specific Asus make and model only supports Windows 10 drivers.

The make and model of the laptop is a ASUS R510VX-DM151D.

Strangest thing is happening to me. From time to time my computer freezes either when I power it on and log into Windows or when I shut it down. Normally, I won't receive a BSOD, the image will just freeze, the processor will start to run at maximum power by the sounds of it and it will remain hung there unless I turn it off manually.

I replaced the HDD it had in it with a SSD ingston SSDNow V300, 240GB, 2.5", SATA III and added another 8 GB RAM Kingston 8GB SODIMM, DDR4, 2133MHz, CL15, 1.2V.

When I first installed the Windows image I installed the drivers from the CD I received but I still got random freezes. I went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded the latest drivers but that still happened.

I went ahead and formatted the drive and installed a fresh copy of Windows and let Windows get the updates automatically. This lead to fewer frozen screens, however I still receive them.

I've ran 8 memtests and everything seems to be fine, I've checked the HDD and everything seems to be in order. I've disabled the Sleep and Hibernate as I know sometimes this feature may cause issues. I even disabled the IMEI just in case.

I've downloaded the WhoCrashed app and get the following information:

Hi,

I've experienced similaire system's hangs on a DELL Inspiron. I've analyzed the crash dump file with Windbg and I found that the problem was caused by the graphic card driver. I've updated it and all went good.

You can find in this link more details.

Hi,

Before I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 I had Driver Easy and Driver Finder installed and all of the updates were up to date, yet the crashes kept happening.

Is there any chance of uploading the crash dumps and you taking a look at them? I've tried this but don't really know how to interpret the data. Sorry about this but I'm not really Windbg-savvy.

Thank you in advance.

Upgraded Bios as it was 2.06 to version 3.
Reinstalled fresh copy of Windows by downloading ISO file from Microsoft's site, Installed drivers in the required order (not using the CD), disabled fast startup and fast boot.

Works like a charm.

You can close down the topic.

Just install them in the right order:

Chipset, MEI, Intel® Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver, ATKPackage, Audio, Intel Graphics Driver, nVidia graphics driver, lan, card reader, asus smart gesture, wireless and bluetooth.

Hi, yes but not always is freezing. Also I observed another possible issue regarding the usb 3.0 ports I'm using an external keyboard usb 2.0 and it works only in 2 usb ports from 3 and i don't know could be an problem with the driver because in my opinion everything looks fine in device manager. Please take a look on pictures
