My experience with internet has been infuriating and I've had the final straw with this issue. I have used wifi on my pc for the last 3 years with different modem/router combinations but this is the first time this has ever happened. My router is in the living room on our tv stand, while everyones pcs are in our bedrooms respectively, but this has NEVER been an issue with getting consistent wifi speeds until just a couple weeks ago. Now my wifi speeds are inconsistent to say the least. My FINAL speed is anywhere from 60-90Mbps, but the issues are during the speed test, when it speeds up then slows down then speeds up. This issue isnt noticeable at all when watching youtube at fullhd @ 60fps, or downloading large files, until I start gaming. My god the lag spikes make playing Overwatch unbearable at times and it happens every 20-30 seconds. This issue is also happening to everyone connected to the router.

What I've done:
-Checked for leeches (noone but us is using it)
-Reset my router (didnt do anything)
-Reset my Pc (I thought maybe a program like bitdefender which we all have would be affecting it)
-Plugged directly to modem (speeds are a consistent 130+ mbps but noticed that it would take FOREVER for the internet to actually connect)
-Used Wifianalyzer to choose the best channel (found a channel but had 0 performance increase)
-Moved the router off the floor to the tv stand (made the problem worse)
-plugged to router with e-cable (speeds were consistent @ 95 mbps)
-Moved around our antenna (did nothing)
-switched to 2.4 ghz (reduced speeds and connection still all over the place)
-Googled all over the place (Noone had the same issue as me)

I understand wifi is unstable, but I've had this modem/router for a year, with my brother being the furthest away from wifi and his connection was perfectly fine until recently as well. So I refuse to believe that My wife and I moving to another room is the issue, especially when we are still close to the router compared to my brother. My brother has my old wifi card which is 2-3 years old while our wifi cards are less than 6 months old.

Solution
It could be that some new equipment either in your house or a neighbor's house is interfering with the WiFi signal. It is, after all, just a radio signal and many things can interfere with it. Go through the house turning everything possible off to eliminate something in your own home. There's not much you can do about a neighbor's equipment other than complain.

A long time ago I had a new neighbor move in who was a HAM radio operator and his radio equipment interfered with my computer equipment. I let him know about it and he found he didn't have his HAM rig grounded properly. He actually thanked me because he could have lost his operator's license over it. I'm not a HAM so I don't know about that last part but it got resolved in two...

Anyway, look around to see what else might have changed in the environment around your house if you don't find the problem in your own house.
