Well basically I have a good gaming motherboard with horrible sound. And I wanna know if I can fix this by buying an audio card? I'm asking because I never got into the whole audio quality, speaker configuration, and sound stuff, and I don;t know very much about it.

So the question is can an audio card fix bad mobo audio?

Solution
It depends if it's due to a poor audio from the board or due to your headphones.

If it really is your sound chip, a sound card would fix this.

Absolutely yes.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/ an equalizer can help.

Nothing can help low quality speakers or headphones.

If the audio problems are your headphones or speakers then your motherboards sound is fine.

If you are for sure that the source of your problem is the audio chip, than a sound card will most defiantly help.
