i dont know why this is happening i have tryed everything when ever i boot my pc. the task manager show that my disk usage is at 100 percent this gos away once things like discord open.

however for some reason after i start to play a game like the division or watch dogs 2 i get random FPS stuttering and drops and i see in the task manager that my disk usage is spiking at 100 percent for some reason.

things i have have done

disable Windows Search
Disable Superfetch
i have used malwarebytes to scan my pc
i have scanned for bad sectors and it was all green
i have changed the virtual ram to min being 8192 and the max being 16384
i have done some other things as well be i cant remember them as well

im running windows 10
8GB of ram
i5 4460
WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s with the item number being
WD10EZEX
graphic card msi gtx 1060

im not sure what more i can do is it because my hard drive is too slow and cant load open world games fast enough or is there something more simple that im missing

i should say that all the hardware is new by the way.

Hey there, phantom 1.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're currently with your drive. :(

Have you installed any new OS updates or programs around the time this started to happen? I've stumbled upon quite a few complaints for high disk usage in the past several days, all due to an OS update. However, one can never be too careful, so I'd suggest that you backup your important files, just to be on the safe side. After that go ahead and try the drive with a different SATA port and cables, just to exclude a faulty connection as a possible culprit.
I'd also recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended) to see if anything alarming pops-up. Here's how to do it: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Please keep me updated and let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.

i cant really say if it because of an update because windows 10 does updates with out you know most of the time anyway. from what i can work out this start when i update to windows 10 from windows 7 but with that being said it may have been happening in windows 7 without me knowing, i mean is it normal to have hard drive spiking at 100 percent at time
or should this not be happing at all.

and i have used date lifequard to do a quick test i never did the other one because the quick test said anything was fine.

It's really starting to sound more and more like an OS realated issue. Basically even if the disk usage spikes to 100% it shouldn't be for long and it shouldn't affect your everyday tasks as much (like using playing games, watching videos, running other programs, etc).

As for the updates, you can check your Windows update history: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5472-windows-update-history-view-windows-10-a.html

I'd recommend that you contact the Microsoft's customer support to see if the guys there have a ready fix for that in case it turns out to be an OS problem.

thanks for the reply i was looking in the task manager after i changed the disk usage to show me the percent of one one program and i saw that avast was really high on start up but soon stops not long after boot as for things like the division i was looking at a steam forums about the game being broken and its something ubisoft need to patch at least thats what everyone was saying.
