I have 3 HDDs in a PC. One of them, a Maxtor STM3160211AS, is not picked up in POST or the OS. It has power connected and also a data lead - SATA. I can feel that it is huming, Neither different SATA leads nor different positions on the MB make a difference. Is there anything I can do to revive it?

Hey there, gazdok.

Unfortunately it sounds like the drive might be in a pretty tough sport if it's not detected by the BIOS even by the BIOS. Give it a try with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens.
You could also try accessing it via data recovery software or Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it's recognized and if you can get to your files, but unless the motherboards recognizes the drive, chances are that it won't help.
Your best option would be a professional solution, such as a data recovery company.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
