Dear people,

This is my first thread in Tom's Hardware's Forum and I want to thank you in advance to all of the people who are so generous to share their knowledge and experience also solution.

So, the problem is that I have an ASUS E202S which I bought 1 month ago. The operating system was Windows 8.1. I got confused because it was my first time using it. So I decided to downgrade it to Win 7. I downloaded a Windows 7 x64 bit (as mentioned by the website) from Internet and installed it. The problem started when I want to install the drivers. It said that the driver is not compatible with the windows version I am running. To confirm, I checked on the system properties that the windows I installed is x32 bit! To my thought of course it didn't work because the system is not x64 bit. The most annoying part is that I cannot use both usb port, my touchpad isn't working, and no wifi because of the driver cannot be installed. Worse, there's no LAN cable port in this notebook! The notebook is completely isolated. I tried through bios to install it. Win 7 32, Win 7 64 and win 8.1 64. It said missing operating system.

I really have no idea what's happening. I read that there's actually no problem when 32 is running on 64 hardware but the fact in this case is just like what I stated above. And I read also about the usb 2.0 which doesn't need any driver. I tried to disable and enable it back again in the computer management even uninstalled it and restarted the computer so it will detect it back automatically. No result.

Please help.

If you got that laptop new, it should have come with Windows 10 not 8. There are no Windows 7 (or 8 for that matter) drivers for this laptop. https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/E202SA/HelpDesk_Download/ As you can see in the drop-down there is Windows 10 32 bit and 64 bit.

Your issue has nothing to do with the fact that you installed Windows 7 32 bit instead of 64, and installing Windows 7 would cost you an extra $100 for the license cost.

Just do a system restore back to 10 (unless you wiped the restore partition or did not make a backup first, then you need to contact ASUS for a set of restore disks).
