GTX 1070 Compatible?

I have a GA78LMT USB3 motherboard, an AMD FX6200 processor and 16GB Ram is there any point in me buying a GTX 1070 or would the bottleneck be too great?

Don't bother. The FX6200 is far too weak for even a GTX1060 much less a GTX1070.

Don't waste your time with a FX upgrade. The FX8350 is not good enough either.

Perhaps look for a used Haswell i5/i7 processor with a cheaper B85/H97/Z97 motherboard along with a used GTX 900 series /R9 200/300 series graphics or a new GTX 1060 3GB/RX 480 4GB.

So I should upgrade my processor and my motherboard to use the gtx 1070?

From what I can find on these forums my motherboard is supposedly compatible with the gtx1070. I currently have a gtx 660. It's very poor.

I am willling to uparade my motherboard and processor if necessary. Just wondering if my set up as is would show a significant improvement with the 1070 over the 660 and how much of a handicap my processor would be.

It should show a big difference with a GTX 1070 even if your CPU will be a bottleneck. Do think about upgrading the CPU if you want Its full potential to be unleashed.

I think I can upgrade my cpu to the FX8370 with thhs motherboard. Is that the highest i can go?

No don't bother. Your motherboard is not good enough for any 125w cpu.

The GTX1050ti would be a significant upgrade over your 660 without wasting a lot of money. You could even upgrade your cpu and motherboard AND get a 1050ti for cheaper than it would cost you to get a 1070.

Perhaps wait it out a month for AMD Ryzen processors and AMD Vega graphics cards. They might offer competitive options for the price.
