I just picked up two of these laptops, I have read numerous issues on these laptops being slow when new so I wanted to share my findings.

First thing I did was remove the outdated Mcafee AV, now this wasn't the root cause, but I did this because I wanted to use MSE or Win defender.

The part that really fixed the hangups, and transformed this laptop to where it should be was the following:

Right click on the windows icon
Select "Search"
Then type "Disk Cleanup" Should appear when you type "Disk"
Select the "Disk Cleanup"

This will start the laptop to calculate the space

Then when the box shows at the top and is labeled "Files to delete", check the boxes that have a value other then "0"

This is what I did with a brand new laptop, make sure you have saved any pics or documents that me be deleted if you are doing this at a later date then when new.

Then click "OK"

Once this was finished everything was normal. I personally like to use MSE which I believe is now Windows Defender..never any issues.

Now it's on to removing all the adware that comes pre-installed.
Hope this helps.

From my experience, deleting here and there from a pre-installed OS isn't the cleanest way. This is because you would also need to check msconfig and other hidden startup programs being executed in the background etc..

Your best bet is to completely format the laptop. This is safe because there's a separate partition that is strictly for backup usage. Each manufacturer has it's own ways of restoring and this would start everything at ground zero, most likely without the pre-installed crap that bloats every system today.

After that, delete things further and if you want even a faster performing laptop, replace the slow harddrive with an SSD harddrive and you'll see a significant performance increase in games and even loading times...
