Hello guys, so I'm wondering if I should upgrade my CPU since im experiencing some bottlenecking issues with my i7 4770. I'm looking at the i7 6700k since people have gained the best results with that processor

Even though they don't list the i7-6700K the one closest to it (at least when comparing passmark scores), the i7-4790K will still bottleneck the 1080 according to this site: http://thebottlenecker.com/intel/1.html

In real world use will you still see bottlenecking? I don't know. I would guess the i7-6700K stock isn't that far from being ok with that GPU and maybe with a mild overclock it will not bottleneck.

Just as a side note that site is garbage. Whoever put that together doesn't know a thing about how this stuff works.

Upgrading a 4770 to a 6700k and expecting a huge gaming performance boost is an easy way to light hundreds of dollars on fire.

Lets go through the issues you're experiencing and what games they are in, as there is probably a solution to your problem that doesn't involve $500+ in new hardware.

haha I just checked out that site choose 6950X and GTX 1070 Diablo 3 as the game and it same my GPU is too weak for the CPU and I should call PC store and ask about upgrading. Damn that site gave me a good laugh for today.

It doesn't even have my 6700K listed. Is my 1080 too weak for it? :pt1cable:

And it says a 6950X is too weak for quad SLI 1080s.

And you can't even do quad SLI on the 1080!

I have H100I cooling

high/ultra

The CPU usage boosts up and the gpu speed decreases so im consistenly getting bad frames not lag spikes or anything

I was wondering how accurate that site was... seems like a great idea but from the replies on this post I'm guessing the calculations are off!
