Ok guys... my 1 tb segate hardrive has suddenly stop working tried every method inside book. As soon as a plug it in my Pc likes slows down and when I try to go to computer to see the disks it takes a long time to load and sometimes stops working and when my hardrive is not plugged in everything works fine! I changed the letter of the disk .... that method didn't work tried to make a new partition didn't work tried the command prompt method didn't work (CHKDSK) and apprently my external hard rive doesn't show up as a raw file if I tried to recover it ...... the software says there is no memory..... if you guys want screen shots it would be provided! The funny think is the it works fine in my smart samsung tv! All the movie, video, and photos are available and working properly!

Hi there DrLeonIcGamer,

My suggestion would be to try to access the drive under Ubuntu. You will need to boot(just boot don't install it) from a CD or a flash drive. If the drive is accessible, just back up all the data that is stored on it. Thread on that: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Once you back up your data, you can boot Windows once again and test the drive: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Well, I see that it is an external drive. Yet again, I believe you can see if the drive would be accessible under a different OS system than Win.

Ubuntu, sometimes, handles failing drives better. So, you can just grab a USB flash drive, make it bootable, boot Ubuntu and navigate to the external drive. See if it would be accessible.
