Heya,

Looking for some advice/feedback on my build.

This will used for gaming and some productive work (Word, Excel).

Budget is not hard set, but around $2000-2500 US.

If possible was trying to stick to Newegg.

Currently I have...
27 Inch Samsung 1080p Monitor......Open for suggestions if I should get a 4k Monitor.
Full size Lian Li case.
1000W Corsair Modular PSU.

Struggled with choosing Z170 vs. X99.
-From what I understand ZS170 is newer, X99 might be better for SLI with the second PCIe running 16X not 8X with the Z170.

Also was considering two 1070 GPU's instead or one 1080 GPU.
-SLI would be overkill unless I upgraded my monitor?

Anyway here is what i got:

CPU
Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80662I76700K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 530

*I have had good look with ASUS in past.

*Per reviews, a bit more fluff than the Maximus.

*Considering to keep open possiblity of adding second 1080 in future. Apparently the out the case set up cooling is better for SLI set ups.

That X99 board wouldn't work with a 6700k. You would need a 5820k, or 6800k, to use it. 32gb isn't necessary either. Should you get a 4k monitor, you have the budget for 2x GTX 1080. You get better deals, by shopping around.

Just to chime in unless you plan to move to a 4k monitor soon no point in SLI 1070 just a waste, you may what to get an 1440p which a 1070 is still good enough but you could look into 1080 (note 1080ti maybe just around the corner). Also I wouldn't buy a SDD for secondary storage just buy a "standard" HD and get a 3-4 TB drive just the SSD for the boot drive and application drive.

THX for replies.

Can anyone else take a stab at the MOBO choices and comment if my memory choices would work.

As per ikaz, should I just get a HD for the secondary storage and not SSD ? Any recs in the 1-2 TB range ?

Getting the feel that my older 27" inch Samsung may not do the system justice.....any 4K monitor set ups suggested ?

I agree here, I would go for a single 1080 and then just add the second one if you plan to move to 4K later on.

Can anyone else take a stab at the MOBO choices and comment if my memory choices would work.

It will work but 32GB of RAM is mega overkill for gaming. Right now you don't need more than 16GB. Don't worry about going X99 either.

Getting the feel that my older 27" inch Samsung may not do the system justice.....any 4K monitor set ups suggested ?

It will work fine but you would definitely benefit from an upgrade. Asus makes great 4K monitors. Some people may recommend 144hz but I think it's way overkill and the monitors are so expensive that it doesn't justify the purchase.

I would suggest something like this:
