New Possible Processor Looking For Info.

Hello, thank you for even taking your time to read this! anyways, I will jump straight into this.
-Spect
Processor=AMD FX-4200
GCard=GTX 750 ti
RAM=8GB
Power Supply=600w
MBoard=GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0

currently I was looking on upgrading my Processor to an i5 but was told my motherboard wasn't compatible so I was wondering if a AMD FX-6300 would be a better processor for my PC. And if so if anybody would have any clue on how much FPS I could get in games and what I may be able to run now. Thanks again for your time, hopefully this will work out. Have a good day!

Better than an i5 for gaming, no. But it is compatible with the motherboard you have. Get good aftermarket cooling since the factory coolers are noisy.

I would not recommend anything in the current AMD lineup. If you are willing to spend the money, I would either wait until the new AMD products come out (next couple months) or purchase an i5 processor and appropriate motherboard and if you go with Skylake, DDR4 RAM also. I would not sink a penny in any current AMD build due to even the highest end AMD CPU being out performed by most i5 processors. But if you aren't willing to do a proper upgrade, the FX-8370 is the most powerful CPU your current mobo will handle. I really wouldn't do it though.

This is not the time to put more $$ into the AMD line of processors.

Either jump to Intel ($$$), or wait a few months until the Zen line is fully out in the consumer channel. Again, $$$.

I don't really have the $$ right now for a new motherboard and processor. I have the 100 for that processor, if an i5 would be compatible I would be willing to pay for one, but otherwise if somebody has an idea of something else I am open for anything.

I would hold off until you could build a new system as opposed to sinking money into your current one. You probably won't get enough of a return with a new CPU to justify the expense.

As much as I would like to build a new one, I kinda can't. I can spend $150 tops on a processor so if anybody knows one that would be worth spending on and would be compatible I would just do that, I'm getting a job soon and when I do I'm going to buy a 10x better PC and the one I am currently using will be given to my brother.
