So recently I tried updating the drivers on my gtx 970. Everything seemed to be working fine, it said it was installing, but then randomly failed with only the message "NVIDIA Installer Failed." I soon realized that it had removed the old drivers before attempting to install the new ones. Now, every time I try to install drivers, when it first starts up and is on the "System Check" step, before it even shows me options to select, it jumps to NVIDIA Installer failed. Has anyone had this issue before and has any idea how to fix it? I saw many things about doing a clean installation but as I cant get to the options I cant do that. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

What operating system? For Windows 10 try this: click the start button, and on the left hand side of the pane click the little gear icon to open settings. Then go to Update and Security. Click 'check for update'. Apply any updates, restart PC, and see if that works. This happened to me a few days ago... Nvidia installer was failing, but Windows was able to automatically install an older driver. After that I was able to update using the Nvidia installer to the latest driver version.
