Slow hard drive but S.M.A.R.T data shows good health?

So I have two hard drives with duplicate data. For example, let's say the three drives are D,E, F. D,E have the duplicate files. F is a new hard drive.

When I copy the same file from the D drive to the F drive the rate is 2.5 Mb/s

When I copy the same file from the E drive to the F drive the rate is 130 Mb/s

What's going on?

SMART data shows good health. ChkDsk finds nothing.

Hey there, @jranaudo!

If the HDD diagnostic tests indicate that your hard drives are healthy, but you still experience drops of transfer rate, I'd suspect a failed connection to one of the drives. My recommendation is to swap the SATA cables and the SATA ports on the mobo where the drives are connected. If that doesn't help, back up the data from either one of the drives (since the files are duplicated), somewhere off-site as well. Keeping backups inside your system (on 2 internal drives constantly connected) is not a backup solution, unless you have another duplicate somewhere off-site as well.

I'd also suggest you check your motherboard manufacturer's official website for any SATA controller & Chipset driver updates for your model...

What's worse it seems that it's only a problem copying off of one root folder and not the other.

For example:

D:\BeforeReOrg = (BAD SPEED)
D:\Jackson = (WORKS FINE)

What the hell?

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting!
