Wireless Connection: DNS Server isn't responding

Hello!

My internet connection doesn't work when I use the wifi router. It shows me the : "DNS Server isn't responding"., but when I plug the Ethernet Cable, the Internet works

I tried everything : reinstalled the windows; reinstalled the driver for wireless connection, changed ipv4, flushed dns, renew, etc and it still doesn't work.

Could that error happened because of Network Board malfunction or it's from my ISP?!

What else can I try to solve it?

What model is the wireless adapter?

Does the wireless adapter have an IP address that is in the same range as the gateway when you run ipconfig in a command prompt window?

I would install the free version of inSSIDer from HERE and run it to see if you find a wireless signal for your router. The problem could be the router radio or the computer wireless adapter, so you will need test the two -- can other devices connect to the router wireless and can your computer connect to other wireless networks for example. You could also have an interference issue.

Also, can you successfully ping the router gateway address from the computer using the command prompt window?

My laptop finds the router signal(full signal). but doesn't connect.

I'll try to do the things you recommend me(ping the router gateaway address, install Inssider, etc) tomorrow and I'll report back.

I have a TP Link TL-WR740N. I tried with a Tenda router, too(I've just bought it, thinking that it may have been a router problem -- the old router is... well, kinda old), but I couldn't connect to Tenda either.

My wireless adapter is: 1X1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI express Half Mini Card Adapter. Version. 5.100.82.139. I've tried to update it but it tells me it's the best version.

I'll ask a neighbour to let me try and connect my latop to his wireless(his wireless is password protected) and see if it's wireless fault or my laptop fault.

By "Ip address in the same range" you mean the same/identical address..or what?

I tried to connect my laptop to a neighbour's router and it worked.

My ipv4 address ends in 0.100 and the default gateaway ends in 0.1.

Is that bad?

Nope that is not bad, your device is in the network range as I described.

At this point, I would go into the network control panel, manage wireless networks and delete the entry for your wireless radio that is a problem. Then restart, reaquire the signal and select that SSID. Enter the passkey and check the connect automatically box.

If that doesn't work I would use alternate plan B, change the MAC address of your wireless adapter with the free tool from HERE, which can often fix a problem like this where both the radio and adapter work but will not actually connect.

By deleting the entry for wireless radio, you mean: remove the wireless connection(showed by your connection name -- Ex: TL WRN740)?

Yes, whatever the SSID is for your router. By deleting it, restarting, and reacquiring the signal you can often fix an adapter that has issues with a particular wireless network.

I would also change the DNS server from automatically obtain to using the Google public DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in the adapter IPv4 properties tab.

I tried the latter(using 8.8.8.8 . I tried with. 220, too and it didn't work.) I'll delete the wireless connection tomorrow and I'll also try to change MAC address and report back.

Thanks for the tips.

I changed Mac address. I removed the wireless connection. Still nothing. The laptop recognizes the signal, connects to it, but there's no internet(DNS Server isn't responding error persists).

It worked very well before and one day that error appeared. anyway, I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for trying to help me!
