Hello All.
This is my first thread here so please be kind if i have done something wrong :).

As mentioned in the topic i have problems when i try to OC my I2500k CPU with Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 mother board.

Specs:
System: windows 10 64 bit.
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k @ 3.3GHz Sandy bridge 32nm.
Ram: 16 GB DDR3 Crosshair vengence 2400 (cant get them to go higher than 1330 tho)
Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3, BIOS version F2
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 390
Storage: Crucial ssd 500 GB
Cooler for CPU: Intel TS13X Liquid Cooling Solution (so i have good cooling)

I have checked alot of videos and i wanna get a stable OC at around 4.2 GHZ. but i have alot of problems before i even get to the OC.

The biggest problem I encounter is that even if i set the multiplier to x40 or x42 my pc wont go any higher than the turbo frequency of the 3.7 ghz.
When i check the Core speed in CPU-Z i only get the 3692 MHz. Even tho i changed settings in Bios to 4000 mhz. It seems like i cant get past the Turbo boost that is in the chip.

Is this a BIOS problem because i run an old Bios version? (i have Bios version F2).
Or what is the probem?
i have tried to enable and disaple alot in the bios and also tried to set it all on AUTO.
I have searched around the internet to try find an answer to why i cant get it over the turbo boost.
By the way this is not a problem with me not getting a stable OC, i cant even get to that part cause my PC starts up well after i change the multiplier in the BIOS to x40 but it does not go to the x40 after. It just stays at the x33 and then with turbo boost at x37.
and yes i have remembered to save settings :).

Second problem is that i cant get my ram to go higher than the standard 1330. I want them to go at the 2133 that is the max for my motherboard but nothing helps.

Please help me if any have any answers to why i cant OC my CPU and why i cant change the frequency of my ram.

Please write if you need more information or pictures. I really hope someone can help me with an answer. Sry for the bad english :).

@Supahos
so it might be because my Bios is F2 that it does not work?
Have you had any experince with this?
I have read and i can also find the F9 bios Version i just want to know why i cant OC on my F2 Version.
Thx for the reply every help is very much appreciated :)

I have seen the link you posted and i have been around that thread alot of times but it does not explain why i cant get my CPU to OC in the F2 version of gigabyte Bios

Not particularly with Sandy bridge my first I series build was the next gen. I know the supposed overclockable boards for a 2500k are Z68 and that is a P68 they may not have allowed overclocking until later bios versions. get the most recent one if you're going to go for it.

Hello again :).

I have now updated Bios version to f9 and it seemed to help me alittle bit. I can now change the multiplier from the normal stock at x33 but i cant go higher than x40. When i do x42 i can normally start my PC but when i enter CPU-Z too see my multiplier it says x40 (16-42). So it seems as it has registered that i wanna do x42 as it places 42 in the (16-42) but the multiplier is still only x40. Any advice?
Have a nice day :)

I found out that i just had to restart the pc :).
Also i found a good guide for the ram http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=13874.
The guide is super easy to understand and it worked really well for me.
Now i have OC at 4.2 Ghz + 2133 ram instead of 1333. :).

Now i just have 1 more question:

To get to where i am now i needed a bit high Vcore for this since i also maxed my rams at 2133 + 4.2 ghz on CPU. So my Vcore is at 1.3 is that too much to run all the time? :)
In csgo i get temps at 64 degrees after 3 hours and it stays there so that seems fine, but in Overwatch i get 69-70 degress after around 2 hours and it stays there :). Is this bad for my CPU or is it okay?

:)
