I built my computer a few days ago and I am trying to install windows 7 from a USB. The setup is successful and everything seems fine. However, after I enter my name for the pc, set the time, etc and it reboots one more time, it gives me a blue screen saying:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Plug and play detected an error most likely caused by a faulty driver.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mod.

Technical information:

*** Stop: 0x000000A (0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFFFA800DAB9E40, 0xFFFFFA800D957E40, 0x000000000000000000)"

Initially, I cleared the partition and formatted it. There was a 100mb unallocated disk space for disk 0. Don't know what else was special. uhhhh

Help please!

Can you boot into safe mode? Reboot and tap F8 immediately after the BIOS screen disappears. You'll get the advanced boot options screen. Choose safe mode and see if it blue screens. Try removing your graphics card and use the on-board video instead. You might also try a different monitor or cables.

Could be usb 3.1 issue, windows 7 has no idea what to do with it and only supports up to usb 2.0 on a stock install disk.

I followed this guide on how to add modern usb 3.0/3.1 drivers into windows 7 http://codeabitwiser.com/2014/03/how-to-install-windows-7-with-only-usb-3-0-ports/

Before doing this my windows7 install would stop asking for drivers or bsod if I had anything connected to a blue usb 3.0 port. I have a asus sabertooth 990fx r3.0 and it has some usb 2.0 ports so I could work around that issue a little
