This is my pc right now:
Motherboard MSI B85M-E45
CPU Intel Core i3-4340 3.60ghz
GPU Radeon R7 260x
Ram ballistix sport 2x4gb DDr3 1600mhz
PSU silver power 650W 80+bronze
and the case is a cooler master mid tower

if you had 5-700Dollar to spend on upgrades, what would you buy? For gaming

Solution

Overclocking is kind of out of range for your budget but you could do this
Also you can try your old PSU but you gave not enough information to be able to tell if its any good.

Solution

It is but still the cost will probably be the same for 7600k as the 6600k so if you dont mind waiting probably a good idea also you would get an improved z270 motherboard.

If you have microcenter nearby they should have 6600k for 189.99
