Not getting as much fps as expected in CS:GO

I see people with worse GPU and processor than me getting more fps, I'm wondering why?

I have an i5 6600k overclocked to 4.5GHz and a GTX 1060 3GB overclocked to over 2000MHz, max settings, 1920 x 1080 resolution I get max fps 300. I've tried fps_max 0 in console but that does nothing.

Am I under-performing? I know 300 fps is still a great amount, but if I'm not getting what I payed for I want to know.

Running 200 or 300 makes no difference most monitors can only display 60-144.

Best way to check that would be to run benchmarking software such as unigine heaven and compare scores to other people with same setting.

Yes it does. Running 300 fps on a 60hz monitor would look much smoother than 60 fps locked.
