Hi all,
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 server from January 2006. I acquired it from my workplace, as it was a retired server that was being discarded. When I tried to boot it up, the blue light on the front came on and then turned to blinking amber. I got a video signal and saw the Dell splash screen, but the progress bar stops about 1/4 of the way across and the system freezes. I cannot hit F2 to enter the BIOS press or any keys to access network boot etc. Keyboard lights blink and the number lock light stays and I can turn it off, but the system completely freezes.
I have tried:
1: Disconnecting all external devices except power
2: Clearing CMOS
3: Removing password jumpers
4: Removing RAID card
5: Disconnecting all hard drives and optical drives
6: Tried different RAM and got a beep error code (Probably wasn't error correcting code RAM)
At this point, I am running out of culprits, except the motherboard. The power supply is non-redundant and there are no warning indicators lit on it. Is there anything else I can try to revive this system?
