Hey Everyone,

I just finished building my first ever PC and I have concerns regarding the motherboard's Ram DIMMS. I installed a single 8GB stick of ram into the 2nd DIMM slot as the manual instructed but the PC failed to post. I tried DIMM slots 1-3 and they all failed but when I tried DIMM 4 it worked.

My question is: Should I be concerned that DIMM slots 1-3 are defective? I'm really worried that I won't be able to add more ram later on down the road.

Maybe I'm worrying for no reason but I'd really appreciate a professional opinion.

I know someone will ask, so I'll list all of my PC specs below :p

CPU: i3 6100
RAM: Patriot Viper Elite 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) PVE48G213C4GY
Motherboard: MSI B150M MORTAR ARCTIC
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 220-G2-0550-Y1 80+ GOLD 550W
SSD: 850 Evo 250gb
GPU: GTX 1060

Solution
Skylake CPU has thinner CPU PCB, sometimes PCB bending would be caused by higher pressure of CPU fan mounting, so..be really careful when doing it.

Okay, so this was weird.

I knew there wasn't any bent pins because I checked everything very carefully before posting my question on here.
However, I decided to double check just to be sure..what I found was rather surprising; there were no bent pins on the mobo BUT the actual pcb on the processor was bent! I was examing the edges of the cpu and I found that two corners were bent up, ths not allowing the connectors to touch the pins on the motherboard. I added some padding (paper towel) between my fingers and the pcb and bent it back to a straight position. It worked! I can post using DIMM slot 2 now. :)

Thanks for replying! Your answer was chewing my mind all day and I just decided to check the pins again 15 minutes ago. haha.
