First post here so bare with me

So, about 2 weeks ago my graphics card broke for an unknown reason, i got error (code 43)
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

I tried everything the forums told me to do, trying to fix it but no solution worked which lead me to believe that the card was broken. This made me buy a new card (gtx 750ti) I uninstalled the drivers, entered the new graphics card inside the case, turned on the computer. At start the computer lagged out, heard a couple of "beeps" and then after a minute or two the computer went into a black screen. Tried fixing the problem but it did not work and i do not know what to do anymore, the only other way i am thinking of is updating the BIOS but i am afraid i will brick my motherboard so i am here to ask if there is another way without updating the BIOS.

my specs are
alienware aurora r4
Motherboard: 07JNH0 MB_Version: A00
processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820 CPU @ 3.60GHz
PSU: 550W

Also the bios version is A03

Thank you in advance!

if you use win-10 that can be a issue with it software wise ? you can find a lot on that

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3724/~/error-code-43-in-device-manager-after-upgrade-to-windows-10.

most times after checking like whats here then it may come down to the card bad

http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59308

seeing you all ready swapped cards ??????

now maybe your psu failed and not powering the card correctly and looking here it shows that came with a ''Alienware™ 875 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply''

http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/4/SLN296935

also noticed that did not come with a i7-3820 ??

this guy here got in a mess with a 750ti ?

http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19565761

now here also about the bios update and be sure you do it correctly in steps

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1956821/graphics-card-issues-alienware-aurora.html

then this going back to what I said about the psu if that is a factory dell unit your got

http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN128872

looks like do what you can with all fingers crossed , and bottom line here is your dealing with dell

The card i bought does not come with the 6 pin power slots, your answer leads me to believe that my PSU may be bad, what would you suggest? should i return the card and get a different one or just buy a completely new power supply?

Thank you for the help

well if the card don't need a lead from the psu and works off pci-e slot power may not be the psu cause the cards powered through the motherboard ..

and your sure you did a full clean uninstall of the NVidia driver ? you did not use device manager to do any NVidia driver work ? device manager is not supported for use by NVidia .

did you get your drivers from here ?? [if not from the cards driver disk]

Option 1: Manually find drivers for my NVIDIA products

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

unless something went wrong with the motherboard I feel now it could be a software issue ..

don't know what to suggest ? pretty well covered a lot . you could try to clear cmos [check your manual on how ] sometimes that will kick thing back in

http://www.howtogeek.com/131623/how-to-clear-your-computers-cmos-to-reset-bios-settings/

just odd that your old card did this and your new card doing the same .

maybe try these steps :

when i put my old card back into the computer it works fine its just that i got error 43, the fans are working and everything, the new card however does not work whatsoever, i`m sure i uninstalled the drivers and i got the drivers from nvidia page.

When my old graphics card crashed 2 weeks ago i was playing a game and suddenly the screen went kind of green, idk how to explain it, then crashed and error 43

I guess if you can test the 2 cards in another computer to see if they fully work in it or a computer shop that will test them and maybe your computer with one of there known working cards as well ? the newer card may need a later motherboard bios for support of it ?

I know this sounds a bit stupid... but... Have you tried moving it from the PCI-E Slot you are currently using to another one ?
