I have just built my first computer. When I go to start up the system it will try to boot up and then 5 seconds later shut down. This process occurs for as long as I leave the computer on. I have used tried multiple ram sticks, got a new motherboard and have tested the power supply. All seems to work fine but the problem keeps occurring and I really don't know where to go from here. All I have connected at the moment in the ram along with the cpu, cpu cooler and psu. I have switched coolers and made sure to use the right amount of thermal paste so it is not an overheating problem either. Really appreciate any help.

specs:
i7 6700k
hyper212 evo or hvi100v2 (have tried both)
Gigabyte z170-hd3
Kingston 4x4 16g
evga 650 w psu
Asus duel 1060
kingston hyper x ssd
toshiba 2tb harddrive

Solution

I ended up fixing the problem. I guess z170 mother boards are really picky about what memory is used. Both memory sticks I used were not on the QVL. They were the same brand as many on the QVL but those particular models I used were not. The memory was DDR4 which is correct for the motherboard. I went to Microcenter and picked up some new
DDR4 memory that was on the QVL and my computer is now working. Thanks for all the help.
