Hello ! OK so I am new to building and have to ask this. I bought the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6+ and Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP 2.0 as my RAM. The standard Ram clock on the mobo is 2133 and has a few OC modes up to 3866 mhz BUT 3000 isnt one of them. It goes like 2933 then jumps to 3200. Will this cause any issues ? Will the RAM run on 2133 or at all when I first plug it ? Can I OC it past 3000 to lets say 3200 later or limit it to 2933 ?

Any additional info welcome ! Thanks !

I had the 3600mhz version of that RAM and a Maximus VIII hero motherboard. The motherboard refused to boot with both RAM sticks installed. It would boot with only one stick installed but was completely unstable. Even if I ran the RAM at 2133mhz.

If the RAM is not on the motherboard manufacturers approved list I would skip it. They aren't really worth the money. I never followed the compatibility list in past but that particular model of RAM was easily the touchiest I have ever seen.

Even in my other rig with both sticks it booted up fine but wouldn't hit the 3600mhz that was advertised. They were on the approved list of that mobo.

I got them in a review deal so there was no RMAing for me. Just a sub par review and to a random...
