I have a 5 speaker set up with a subwoofer. I have them all wired through a receiver sony STR-dh740. I have the receiver going to the pc via hdmi the problem is the sound only comes from 2 speakers the subwoofer works fine. The hdmi cord is plugged into one of my gtx 980's I have set everything up in the control panel and still no sound from the 3 speakers

spdif is the same optic i mentioned iirc, same 2.1 stereo pluss subwoofer

from the video card to the sony one hdmi cable right?

from the sony to the tv another hdmi, correct?

i don't remember any sound settings on the hmi in the pc that affect this

the sony part is what ypu should verify, if it is using the right hdmi connector with the right values

https://docs.sony.com/release//STRDH740.pdf

there it says pcm at 192 khz but is not clear how to select and if you need to check any value on the nvidia hdmi output soundcard

also try 48khz on the sony receiver

is this a new setup or just stopped working?

from what you describe, it is working as 2.1 sound system

are you using the arc connector on the tv?

are you sure you are not using a optical connector from the tv to the receiver? optical gives 2.1 only

be sure to set the signal on pcm to get all the chanels, or dolby 192khz
