Which is better in my case - i5 6500 or i5 6600k?

So I'm building my first gaming PC, and I'm thinking about purchasing either an i5 6500 or an i5 6600k. I've heard that purchasing an i5 6600k can be overclocked and the i5 6500 can't but I don't really want to overclock my CPU. What's another reason to purchase the 6600k over the 6500? I've been leaning towards the 6500 as it doesn't require purchasing a cooler and it's much more convenient for me as I already have a power supply that's perfect for the 6500. Any thoughts?

there is no other option if you dont want overclocking. you should only go with 6500 as you say you cant overclock the CPU. so if you buy 6500K you need Z series motherboard which is a expensive board & used for overclocking. or if you buy 6500 then you dont need a z series motherboard, you can go with H series motherboard which is best budget motherboard.
