Recently I bought a replacement battery for my old Toshiba Satellite LXXX (I don´t know the exact number). When I put the battery on the laptop and turned it on with the charger connected it started just fine. The battery thingy at the corner said "100% remaining and charging" so naturally I disconnected the charger and the laptop instantly turned off. I tried turning it on again but it doesn´t work, it only turns on if it is charging. Its as if it is working only on current ,without battery, yet it recognizes the battery.

In the store they told me I should leave the battery charging for at least 10 hours, which sounds weird unless laptop batteries work differently to cellphone batteries.

So I left the laptop charging for about 2 hours. I checked if it would turn on without the charger. It didn´t. I turned it on with the charger connected and still displayed "100% remaining and charging". It´s about 9pm where I am so I believe that around 7am it should work without charger.

Have this happened to someone else before? Is the battery faulty? I know for sure it isn´t the laptop as it works well with its old battery and another same model battery from another laptop.

Battery: Model No: PA3817U-1BRS

Yes it does. The only thing the old one has its that since its 4 years old it can only hold 20 minutes of charge.
