Graphics card not detected

I just got a pc that my friend built for me. He hasn't booted anything up or anything, so I booted it up installed windows and everything. The problem is I'm trying to install the drivers for graphics card (MSI 1060) but it wont install. It says: this nvidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows. Did I boot something wrong or what do I do for the graphics card to work.
Thanks, kurfan7

Have you allowed Windows to update fully? There was a known issue a while back between drivers and Windows. The link is more GTX 1080 specific, though the general steps can still be followed to see if it resolves the problem.
