Hello.
I am planning on getting 2x HD 6950 gpus, but my PSU is only 650W. (Seasonic G-650).
I have done some research, and seen that the 2 GPUS can get up to 410W under load.
Now that is a little concerning, leaving only 140w for the rest of my system (4 Hard drives, 1 SSD, Phenom II x6 1055t, 16gbs ddr3 ram.)
I have a second 650W psu (cant remember name, I can however say that i know it is very, very high quality.).
Would it be possible to power the GPU's on the G-650w PSU, and the rest of the system on the other 650w? I cant see any issues that would arise, but, you guys and girls are the experts after all!
Thank you so much!

if seen set up like that for test benches. and high end muilt gpu. the issue is you have two on switches if you can link both power supply to one on switch. if yuo cant the trick is to power up the gpu first then the mb. myself in real life you have a few choises. one sell the power supplys for one large unit. replace the power hungry two card system for one power sipping gpu.

Multiple power supplies are normally used in server type machines to have a failsafe, and are normally not used in parallel in the same machine. The power supplies also aren't aware of each other, and as a result there could be problems with how much each PSU thinks it needs to output (V) for each part/device it needs to power.

To answer the question though, yes you can, but it is not recommended since the motherboard supplies power to the PCI-E slots and the 4-8pin connectors power the rest of what the GPU needs. Having two separate power supplies could mess up with either of the PSU's output voltage.
