Games are suddenly running slow

After months of good use, and fluid play on the highest graphics setting of most of my games I woke up a week ago to find that ALL my games are now running very slowly. To be any kind of playable I have had to turn them all down to the lowest possible graphics setting and even then many of them are unplayable.
This seems to have happened almost spontaneously and I have no clue as to what it is.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there Likeabau53,

I believe that you can start with just restoring the system to a previous point. (before the issue occurred)

If the issue persists, then you can go to Resource Monitor and see if there's high usage of some of the components.

Other things you can do:
- Test your RAM.
- Run some stress testing.
- Test your HDD: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
- Measure the system's temps.
