How to know my motherboard is bad or processor?

My old PC is not loading windows vista,7,8,10, But XP is running. Is there any fault in the motherboard or the processor is dead, because the processor is older than five years.
Sometimes my Pc is freezing at the loading screen.

There really is no way to tell unless you replace them and it then works properly.
Do you have a drive with a clean install of Windows 7,8, or 10?
If not can you make one and see it works?

CPUs are very reliable and rarely fail.

I tried to install but no use it keeps on rebooting. When I insert a drive with 7 it fails to load the 7 reboots automatically. I showed this prob to technician and he told me there's a fault in motherboard but I want to ensure this first.
