Hey guys, first post here!

I just upgraded my graphics from a 2014 Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X OC 3GB GDDR5 to a brand new Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB Windforce OC.

Im worried im not getting the results i was expecting, and i cant find why.
For example, in gaming, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex Mankind Divided, should get to 60fps in Ultra Settings according to the communitys. But im not getting above 40-45 fps... sometimes drops to 25-30...

Any help?

Specs:
CPU: i5-4570 3.20GHz
Motherboard: Asus H81Plus
RAM: HyperX 4GB x2 1600MHz

Ive allready monitored that temperatures are holding a-ok, both on CPU and GPU.
CPU doesnt get to 100% and GPU clock gets to the OC speed default which is 1974MHz.

Solution
Those games are both known to be very demanding. Rise of the Tomb raider dips below 60 FPS on my 1070 at 1440p too and I haven't tried many other games that do that.

Have you tested it in both DX 11 and DX 12 mode? Some people report better performance in one or the other. There are other settings tweaks that can make a big performance difference without too much visual difference too.

If you are using SSAA X4 anti-aliasing try SSAA x2 or SSAA. SSAA X4 causes a pretty big performance impact. You can read about the performance impact of other settings here but AA is the one that makes the biggest difference.

If the CPU is getting up that high its most likely bottlenecking for some reason. Since that CPU shouldn't be bottlenecking a 1060 it may be damaged or degrading. If CPU usage % is high and GPU % usage is low (50% or less) it's bottlenecking.

Fully uninstalled every single AMD driver? and Installed anew the NVIDIA ones?

Which resolution are you playing on? The 1060 is supposed to work in ultra @1080p
Which PSU do you have?
Both RAM working properly?

It also depends what resolution you are running. Are the benchmarks you see the same resolution you are running? If by chance you are running 1440p on ultra you won't be seeing 60+ fps that the 1060 will be doing at 1080p.

Barring that you may need to uninstall your old drivers (the AMD ones) and even uninstall the Nvidia drivers and try a fresh install of the drivers.

I did use the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility, so that should be out of the way...
Im looking to play on 1920x1080 with Ultra settings on any recent game, so those are the specs on my games.
Ive got a Tacens MP700 as PSU, and im pretty sure Ive got no problem at all with my RAM, at least nothing remarkable when i use "Open Hardware Monitor".

That's a nice score, i'm not really sure why you're having any issues, the bottlenecks are minimal.
A greatly-optmized game IMO is the MGS V, Phantom Pain. I played it with a GT730 and Athlon x4 640 with nice settings/fps.

Looks like you are being limited by your CPU just a bit. Physics scores are really low. In comparison with my rig (see lower left corner of box), which runs pretty much everything maxed out at 1440p with easily over 60fps (I use V-sync with pretty much everything) My FireStrike score is almost 20,000.

so no point in getting a 1070 instead, right?

Is there a scale setting? you might be running upscaled and that would drop your performance. There's always the possibility that the game is poorly optimized. If you aren't running into issues with other games that's what I would bet. For me AC:S looks awful and I can't run it at maxed settings and stay over 60fps, it's just the game though. Similarly AC:BF I have to downscale the AA and a few other settings to get 60+ Stable. Ubisoft just makes notoriously badly optimized games.

There's the issue. Thats a 980 Ti which is about 40% faster than a 1060 and it has trouble hitting 60fps in 1080p.

So OP I doubt your card is the issue, the game is just demanding. Tune back a few settings, namely AA, and you should be fine. If you want higher performance you are going to need a bigger boat, err I mean card.
